Dentures & Partial Dentures

Missing teeth can cause problems with facial esthetics, speech, teeth alignment, and eating. Dentures help replace the missing teeth.

COMPLETE DENTURES- They replace all the missing teeth.

1.Immediate dentures: are placed directly after extracting the nonrestorable teeth.

These are the most comfortable, cost effective dentures if all teeth are missing as they provide excellent retention, esthetics, stability while eating and speaking.

PARTIAL DENTURE- When a few teeth are missing, a partial denture is indicated. It is a removable denture that replaces the few missing teeth with a pink base that mimics the surrounding the gum tissue.

The denture fabrication process takes about 4-5 appointments. Dr. Shah will help you with a selection of the color and shape of teeth for your denture.

Once the denture is delivered it takes a few weeks until the dentures feel comfortable in your mouth. The muscles of the tongue and cheeks are trained to maintain them in a stable position in the mouth.

Sore spots may develop where the denture impinges on the gum tissue and this can be easily relieved during a follow-up appointment.

Good Denture care is essential for good oral health.

a)  Use a folded towel while removing and wearing your dentures to prevent breaking of the denture from slipping.

Rinse and brush your Dentures daily, using a soft-bristled toothbrush- Like your teeth, dentures also need daily brushing to remove the plaque and food.

a) Rinse the denture with room temperature water or a denture cleaning solution. Do not use toothpaste, hand soap, laundry detergent and dishwashing soap.

b) Remove your dentures at night to let the gum tissues breathe and prevent redness and inflammation of the tissues.Store the dentures in a denture case.
