This February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, and Dental Smiles of West Loop is excited to join thousands of dental specialists, healthcare providers, and educators across the country in observance!
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), National Children’s Dental Health Month is designed to “raise awareness about the importance of oral health. NCDHM messages and materials have reached millions of people in communities across the country”¹. Dr. Shah is proud to be doing her part, bringing awareness about good oral health to the West Loop community with free educational dental health sessions for local elementary schools.
Here are some of the helpful tips that Dental Smiles of West Loop is sharing with the community –
Good brushing habits are key – students are encouraged to follow the “2 x 2” rule by brushing twice daily for two minutes at a time
More than just teeth – keeping gums healthy with flossing is also important for good oral health
Limit sugary food – Limit consumption of flavored milk, sodas, and juices that have added sugars which could lead to cavities.
Learning about good dental hygiene is a crucial supplement to the annual school curriculum, especially at the elementary school level as children begin to form lifelong habits. It’s not too late to schedule a free dental health session for your child’s school!
